“Deer I” is part of the Yaquis del Poder series, inspired by the nahuales and the worldview of the Yaqui people of Sonora. The work draws upon the figure of the deer, the central protagonist of one of the culture’s most emblematic ceremonies. Referencing the Deer Dance, the piece evokes this sacred being as a manifestation of the natural world and a symbol of the profound spiritual connection between the Yaqui community and nature, recreating its life, movements, and the ritual hunt that culminates in its sacrifice.

Technique: Giclée print on 310 gsm Etching Rag paper.
