Aleph Escobedo
His work investigates symbolic relationships between nature, culture, and the construction of meaning.
Mexican contemporary sculptor from Nayarit whose practice explores the semiotic relationships between nature and culture, examining how meaning emerges from symbolic connections between humans and the natural world. Working across drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, and video, he develops visual narratives that invite deep interpretative experiences. Drawing from diverse cultural traditions and scientific methodologies, his work challenges and expands our understanding of reality, creating tensions between the organic and the constructed.
He studied Advertising Communication at the European University of Madrid and later completed the SOMA Educational Program in Mexico City, followed by an MFA in Visual Arts at UNAM. His work has been exhibited at Parallel Oaxaca, ARO CDMX, Space 52, Athens, and the Hiroshima Art Center, Japan. He received first prize at the Julio Castillo National Painting Biennial (2018) and was awarded the FONCA grant (2016–2017). He lives and works in Mexico City.
